Six bulls from the ranch "Núñez Cádiz Cuvillo" were featured in today's eighth and final running of the bulls of San Fermin 2009. The run was exceptionally fast and there were no horn injuries. The leading bull thundered through each section and reached the bullring in a minute and 49 seconds.
The most serious reported injury was a head trauma suffered in the stretch called Mercaderes.
Unlike the weekend, today's Tuesday run was relatively uncrowded, giving the runners ample room to run near the bulls and then get out of the way safely.
The bull run, as usualy, began at 8 o'clock in the morning when when the corrals are opened after the traditional song to San Fermin at the slope of Santo Domingo. The bulls ran very quickly up the hill toward the waiting runners. As they entered the crowd, the bulls paired nicely, with the steers packed nicely together, guiding the bulls through the heart of Pamplona.
The lead bull lengthened its lead on Estafeta street, where it hit a young man from behind, tossing him in the air. The bull continued its quick pasce, completing the entire route in less than two minutes.
At the beginning of Estafeta street several runners fell, creating a dangerous pileup, however nobody was injured by a horn and the runners recovered quickly.
The bulls completed the final stretch quickly. One bull fell as it entered the stadium through the entrance tunnel.
